Breast — Treatment

Volume,
in proportion.

Augmentation considered as a question of proportion, not maximum cup size. Saline or silicone, sub-pectoral or sub-glandular, periareolar, inframammary or transaxillary — every decision taken against your frame, and what suits it.

Breast Augmentation — anatomical illustration

What it is & what it isn't

Breast augmentation increases breast volume using implants — saline or silicone — placed either beneath the chest muscle (sub-pectoral) or above it (sub-glandular). Incisions can be hidden in the breast crease (inframammary), around the areola (periareolar), or in the armpit (transaxillary). Each combination has trade-offs that we will walk through honestly.

What it isn't

Not a single recipe. Not the largest implant your skin will tolerate. The right augmentation is the one a stranger doesn't notice but you do. We will tell you when a lift is what you actually need; we will tell you when a smaller implant produces a better result.

These figures are typical ranges, for planning your trip. Your own treatment and recovery timeline is assessed and decided by Dr. Meral — at consultation, and again as your healing progresses.

How it unfolds

The consultation

What size suits your frame, what placement (sub-pectoral or sub-glandular), what incision route, what shape (round or anatomical), what profile. The pocket is the surgery; the implant is the contents.

The plan

Markings done with you standing. Sizing trials — gel inserts in a supportive bra — to see, not just imagine. Dimensional photography. Final decision is made together, not before you arrive.

The surgery

Incision in the chosen route. The pocket is dissected with care — its precise plane (above or below the pectoralis) shapes how the breast moves, ages and feels. The implant is placed. Symmetry is checked with you in three positions before closure.

The first night

Supportive bra from the operating room. Mild discomfort, well-managed. Arm movement is gentle for 24 hours, then progressively normal over the first week.

Recovery

Less intense than its reputation. The chest feels tight for a week — the implants are settling into the new pockets your body is building around them. By day five, arms move freely. By week two, you are out in public without anyone knowing. Full exercise at six weeks. The breasts continue to settle for three months — what you see at week one is not the final shape.

A typical course, not a promise — healing differs from person to person. Dr. Meral reviews you at each follow-up and decides when each step is right for you.

This may be for you if

  • Your breast volume is genuinely less than what you'd choose for your frame
  • You're not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to in the next year
  • You're at a stable weight
  • You understand implants are not forever — eventual revision is part of the contract
  • You want a result a stranger doesn't comment on, but you can feel in your clothing

This is not for you if

  • You're chasing a size dictated by someone else — partner, social media, 'the look'
  • You're using surgery to repair confidence that surgery cannot repair
  • You expect augmented breasts to feel and behave like un-augmented ones — they will not, entirely
  • You're not willing to pause activity for four to six weeks
  • You imagine a one-time procedure — replacement at 10–15 years is realistic, not exceptional
