Breast — Treatment

Lift,
without volume.

A mastopexy reshapes and elevates the breast tissue without adding implants. The breasts return to a more youthful position; the size stays your size. If you want fuller, augmentation. If you want smaller, reduction. If you want your own breasts, lifted — this.

Breast Lift — anatomical illustration

What it is & what it isn't

Mastopexy raises and reshapes the breast by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. The nipple-areola complex is repositioned to a higher, more central place; the areola is often reduced. The technique depends on the degree of sag — from a small periareolar (around the nipple) for minor lift, to a vertical (lollipop) or full anchor pattern for more significant changes.

What it isn't

Not augmentation. Not reduction. Not a guarantee against future change — pregnancy, weight fluctuation and time will continue to affect the result. The scar is the trade. Done well, it is the price of the lift; it does not vanish.

These figures are typical ranges, for planning your trip. Your own treatment and recovery timeline is assessed and decided by Dr. Meral — at consultation, and again as your healing progresses.

How it unfolds

The consultation

Degree of sag, current nipple position, skin quality, and — honestly — whether you would be better served by combining the lift with a small augmentation. Sometimes the answer is one or the other; sometimes it is both.

The plan

Pre-operative mammogram for baseline (and a second one a few months post-op, for the new baseline). Markings done standing — gravity matters.

The surgery

Excess skin removed in the chosen pattern. The nipple-areola complex is repositioned, not detached. The remaining tissue is reshaped to give upper-pole fullness and a higher meridian. Areolar reduction if requested.

The first night

Supportive bra from the operating room. Mild discomfort. Most patients sleep through the first night without difficulty.

Recovery

Easier than reduction, more involved than augmentation. The breasts feel tight and elevated for the first week — they should. By day five you are walking comfortably. By two weeks you are out in public. Scars are pink for six months, fade to white over twelve to eighteen. The compression bra is non-negotiable for six weeks.

A typical course, not a promise — healing differs from person to person. Dr. Meral reviews you at each follow-up and decides when each step is right for you.

This may be for you if

  • Your breasts have lost shape after pregnancy or weight change, but the size still suits you
  • You're done having children, or have planned the timing
  • You accept the scar pattern in exchange for the lift
  • You understand: gravity and time will continue — the result is not a freeze-frame

This is not for you if

  • You want more volume — this is not that procedure
  • You want less volume — this is not that procedure either
  • You're planning more children in the near future — wait, your lift will be undone
  • You expect no scarring — there is no scarless lift that produces real lift
