Body — Treatment
When fat isn't the answer,
implant.
When a BBL is not the right answer — usually because there is not enough fat to harvest, or because the patient wants central projection rather than upper-pole fullness — buttock augmentation with silicone implants is the alternative. The implant is placed intramuscularly, within the gluteus maximus, where it sits naturally and durably.
What it is & what it isn't
Silicone implant placement inside (or beneath) the gluteus maximus muscle. The implant is a cohesive silicone — semi-solid, not gel — designed specifically to resist the forces of sitting and walking. Incision in the gluteal cleft (the natural midline crease between the buttocks). Implant size and projection are chosen against your frame.
What it isn't
Not BBL. BBL uses your own fat and produces upper-pole and lateral fullness; implant produces central projection. Different procedures, different results, different recoveries. Not the right choice for the patient who has enough fat to harvest — BBL is the more natural answer in that case, and we will tell you so.
The practical detail
What you are actually committing to.
- Procedure time
- Typically 2–3 hours
- Anaesthesia
- General
- Stay in Antalya
- Typically 5–7 days
- Flying home
- Typically 10–14 days
- Sitting normally
- Typically 3–4 weeks
- Full exercise
- Typically 6–8 weeks
- Final result
- Typically 3–6 months
- Scarring
- In the gluteal cleft, hidden in the midline
- Implant lifespan
- Typically 10–15 years before revision considered
These figures are typical ranges, for planning your trip. Your own treatment and recovery timeline is assessed and decided by Dr. Meral — at consultation, and again as your healing progresses.
How it unfolds
The consultation
Whether you have enough fat for BBL — if yes, we strongly recommend it instead. If not, implant. Implant size and projection chosen against your existing anatomy, not against a photograph someone showed you.
The plan
Markings made standing and lying. The exact pocket dimensions (intramuscular plane) are decided. The cleft incision line is drawn — short, in the natural midline.
The surgery
Incision in the gluteal cleft. A precise intramuscular pocket is created within the gluteus maximus. The implant is placed in the pocket. Closure in multiple layers — this is the closure that needs the most attention, because it lives under daily mechanical stress.
The first night
Sleeping on the stomach or side. No direct sitting on the buttocks for the first 3–4 weeks — a thigh-only sitting pillow is used during recovery.
Recovery
Among the more demanding recoveries on this site. The first three to four weeks: no direct sitting, no driving, no walking long distances. Week four to six: sitting returns, gradually. Full exercise at six to eight weeks. Implant feels firm for the first three months as the surrounding tissue settles around it; softens noticeably from month three onward.
A typical course, not a promise — healing differs from person to person. Dr. Meral reviews you at each follow-up and decides when each step is right for you.
This may be for you if
- You don't have enough fat to harvest for a BBL
- You want central projection rather than upper-pole or lateral fullness
- You can take three to four weeks of restricted sitting
- You understand: this is an implant, with the long-term considerations that come with one
This is not for you if
- You have enough fat for BBL — that is the more natural answer; we will tell you so even if you walked in expecting implants
- You cannot accommodate restricted sitting for three to four weeks — this is a real constraint
- You expect no revision over a lifetime — the implant has a finite lifespan
- You're chasing a particular silhouette from social media — your frame and your anatomy will guide the result more than the reference photograph
