Body — Treatment

Yours,
in private.

This is a procedure we discuss without euphemism and without judgment. Labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction and related vulvar surgeries address real physical discomfort, real asymmetry, and real personal preferences — yours, not anyone else's. The conversation is medical. The result is private. The reasons are yours alone to give.

Labiaplasty & Vulvar Surgery — anatomical illustration

What it is & what it isn't

Labiaplasty reduces or reshapes the labia minora (inner) or labia majora (outer) using either a trim (edge-removal) or wedge (V-shaped removal preserving the natural edge) technique. Clitoral hood reduction is a separate, often combined procedure addressing the skin above the clitoris. Sutures are dissolving; there are no external stitches to remove.

What it isn't

Not rejuvenation — we don't use that word. Not tightening — that is vaginoplasty, an internal procedure with a separate conversation. Not appropriate for a patient whose motivation is someone else's preference — we will tell you, honestly, that we will not operate in those cases. As Cleveland Clinic puts it plainly: there is a wide range of normal labia, and there is no ideal shape they should take.

These figures are typical ranges, for planning your trip. Your own treatment and recovery timeline is assessed and decided by Dr. Meral — at consultation, and again as your healing progresses.

How it unfolds

The consultation

In your own words, what is bothering you — physical discomfort during exercise or daily activity, asymmetry, appearance. The examination is brief, respectful, and done with a chaperone present. We will ask, gently, why now, and for whom. The answer matters.

The plan

Trim technique or wedge technique — chosen based on your anatomy, not on what is faster or what we prefer. Clitoral hood reduction added or not, depending on what you've described.

The surgery

Local anaesthesia with light sedation. The marked tissue is removed in the chosen pattern. Dissolving sutures in multiple layers. The technique respects the natural anatomy; we do not pursue an aesthetic ideal because there isn't one to pursue.

The first night

Ice. Loose clothing. Most patients walk out of the clinic, drive home (or to the hotel) shortly after, and sleep that night with mild discomfort.

Recovery

First week: mild swelling and tenderness. Sutures dissolve over two to three weeks. No tampons, no sexual activity, no vigorous exercise for six weeks — the closures need that time. Most patients return to desk work in two to four days. The area is private and we treat it that way; follow-ups can be done by video if you prefer.

A typical course, not a promise — healing differs from person to person. Dr. Meral reviews you at each follow-up and decides when each step is right for you.

This may be for you if

  • You experience real physical discomfort — during exercise, in tight clothing, during intimacy
  • You have asymmetry that bothers you (this is common, and a valid reason)
  • This decision is yours alone — not at a partner's suggestion, however gently put
  • You're over 18
  • You understand: this is permanent

This is not for you if

  • A partner has suggested this, even subtly — we will not operate; this is a refusal we hold firm
  • You're chasing a particular look you saw in a photograph — the range of normal anatomy is wider than any single image
  • You expect changes in sexual sensation — labiaplasty does not change clitoral sensation, and vaginoplasty is a separate conversation
  • You are under 18 — we do not perform genital aesthetic surgery on minors
  • You are unsure why you want this — wait; the answer is worth knowing before the procedure, not after
