Body — Treatment

The inner thigh,
no longer chafed.

The inner thigh holds skin that exercise cannot tighten and weight loss cannot return. Thigh lift surgery removes that excess — and with it, the constant friction that skin against skin produces in summer, in exercise, in everyday walking.

Thigh Lift — anatomical illustration

What it is & what it isn't

A medial thigh lift removes loose skin (and where present, excess fat) from the inner thigh. The incision is placed in the groin crease — short for limited laxity, extending vertically down the inner thigh when the laxity continues toward the knee. Liposuction is often combined.

What it isn't

Not weight loss. Not a substitute for stable weight first. Not a short-scar option when the skin reaches the knee — in that case, the long vertical scar is the price of the result; we will tell you so honestly.

How it unfolds

The consultation

How far the laxity reaches — to the upper thigh only (short scar), or down toward the knee (long scar). The conversation about scar length is the honest conversation in this procedure.

The plan

Markings made standing. The incision plan is decided here — and not changed in the operating theatre based on what we find. The scar you sign up for is the scar you get.

The surgery

Liposuction first where fat is present. Skin excision along the marked line. The deep tissue is reattached to its anchoring point (the Colles fascia) to prevent downward migration of the scar. Drains placed.

The first night

Compression garment from the operating room. Walking with assistance the same evening. Most patients sleep with a pillow between the knees for several nights.

Recovery

Compression garment six weeks. Drains five to seven days. Walking carefully for the first two weeks — the closure does not tolerate wide steps. Scars are pink for three to six months. Most patients return to desk work in 10–14 days, exercise at six to eight weeks.

A typical course, not a promise — healing differs from person to person. Dr. Meral reviews you at each follow-up and decides when each step is right for you.

This may be for you if

  • You have inner-thigh skin that hangs after weight loss, pregnancy or time
  • You experience daily friction or chafing that affects how you exercise or dress
  • Your weight has been stable for at least six months
  • You're comfortable with the scar in exchange for the relief

This is not for you if

  • You smoke and aren't willing to stop for six weeks — the inner thigh heals slowly even without that complication
  • You're still losing weight — wait; the result you have now is not the result you'll have at stable weight
  • You expect a short scar despite long laxity — the trade-off is honest, and we will be too
  • You don't have the support to take two weeks of restricted walking
